Postcards from an itinerant fashionista... and a contest

The Carnival Cami and I are back... happy, sated, suntanned and... in need of another of life's little detours exactly like this one. I don't know about you, but when I sink into a blissful sun-kissed inertia, it takes more than a herd of wild horses to drag me back to the real world.

So, while I'm in such a good mood, I thought I'd offer up a wee contest: a free** skein of bamboo in Carnival or Reed Fairy to the first person to guess correctly where I went swimming last week. (Simply leave a comment to this post with your guess as to town and country.)

Absence memo... and a little plea

Just letting you all know that as of tomorrow I'll be away for a week with little or no internet access. So if I'm slower than usual in replying to your orders and emails, at least you'll know why. You'll hear from me as soon as I'm back.

And now, I've got a request for you all -- actually, more of a desperate plea. I have some friends in London who are in dire need of a builder to do refurbishment to the exterior of their home. The renovations are long overdue, but that's because they haven't been able to find a reliable builder or firm of builders in London. You'd think that in a city that large it would be a snap to find someone to do it, but... no such luck. If any of you Londoners can recommend a firm, please drop me an email to sauveterre AT gmail DOT com and I'll pass the information on.

Thanks and have a good week, everyone!

Jane's Clapotis in Rum Point

[x-posted at the Cashmere Gallery]

On the menu today is this delectable Clapotis in Rum Point by Jane from the UK.

For this Clapotis, she used 4 skeins of Estelle and extended the pattern with a few modifications. She writes:

"My finished Clapotis is wonderfully soft and the colours play out brilliantly. I used 4 skeins (with just enough left over to make a Barbie cashmere scarf - on the blog) and made it wider & longer... I went up to a max of 133 stitches on the needles, and then I took a guess at how much I could knit with each skein."

And it looks good enough to eat!

Be sure to check out her beautiful craft blog, yarnstorm, one that not only fills me with PURE BLOG ENVY, but also brims with creative inspiration!
